Dogs of Back Bay

Designed to make the tails wag, one very good dog at a time—
How a love letter to Boston's four-legged locals became a coffee table book.

Sit. Stay. Get to know the Dogs of Back Bay…

Dogs of Back Bay started as a celebration of the neighborhood's most photogenic residents — and somewhere between the first spread and the last, it became something genuinely personal. When the photographer's roster included Ellie, and a handful of her very good friends, the project stopped feeling like a design job and started feeling like a memory worth preserving.

The first impression is less of an opening and more of a tail-wagging hello. The kind that invites you in, asks you to stay awhile, and knows there is a treat in store… but we’ll let the stars of the book handle that.

Every dog has a story worth telling.

Inside, the story really starts to unfold, and may occasionally roll over. A clean, intentional grid keeps everything feeling grounded, while generous margins give each portrait the space it deserves—no crowding, no chaos, just room for personality to shine through! Close-ups bring you nose-to-nose with each subject, while full-bleed spreads give them room to stretch out.

Because when the subjects are this good… you don’t overcomplicate it. You just let them shine.

…and yes, they absolutely stole the show!
